A leaky gut, or permeable gut membrane, affects millions of people. Dr. Jess herself had this due to candida with very few symptoms other than loose inflammatory stools. Leaky gut is an umbrella title and many different pathogens can cause issues here including bacteria, yeast/candida, fungus, or parasites. However, if the gut is severely disturbed, it is important to address this early on. Issues with the gut include constipation, bloating, pain, cramping, loose stools with ragged edges, undigested food in the stool, or urgency. All of these symptoms may reflect leaky gut or inflammation.
