Human Design is a system and a tool for self-awareness and personal development that combines elements of astrology, genetics, quantum physics, and spirituality. In fact, some might say it’s somewhat similar to an astrological birth chart, as it also uses your place, time, and date of birth to calculate your design.

It was developed by Ra Uru Hu (Robert Allan Krakower) in 1987, who claimed to have received a revelation on the island of Ibiza, Spain, which led to the development of this system. During this experience, he stated that he received information from an inner voice or “voice of truth” that provided him with the foundations of the Human Design system. From this revelation, Ra Uru Hu spent several years developing and refining the Human Design system. He integrated ideas and concepts from various disciplines, including astrology, genetics, quantum physics, and spirituality, to create a coherent system that helps people understand their nature and purpose in life.

Ra Uru Hu began teaching Human Design to a group of students and began spreading his ideas through seminars and workshops worldwide. As the system gained popularity, communities of practitioners and interested students formed, looking to apply its principles in their lives. Over time, various schools and organizations have been established that offer training and certification in Human Design. These programs allow practitioners to become Human Design consultants and work with individuals and groups to help them understand and apply the principles of the system.

Interestingly, Human Design is still used today in psychology consultations, coaching, and workplace settings. By knowing your Human Design, you’ll understand with whom you need to work to complement your strengths, and you can continue cultivating your strengths. Ultimately, it’s about combining all types of Human Designs within a team to create an almost perfect puzzle!

Human Design is based on the idea that each person has a unique “design chart” that describes their innate nature and potential. This chart is created from a person’s date, time, and place of birth.

The system focuses on five main aspects:

  • Types: There are four basic personality types in Human Design: Generators, Projectors, Manifestors, and Reflectors. Each type has specific characteristics and life strategies.
  • Centers: The human body is divided into nine energy centers, each related to specific aspects of life and personality. These centers can be open or defined, influencing how a person experiences and uses energy in different areas of life.
  • Channels: Channels are energetic connections between centers and represent specific ways in which energy flows in the body. These channels can influence how a person communicates and makes decisions.
  • Definitions: Definition refers to how centers are connected in a person’s design chart. Definitions can be simple or complex and affect how a person processes information and relates to the world.
  • Authority: Authority refers to the most reliable decision-making source for a person based on their design. It can be emotional, sacral, throat, among others. Learning to follow the correct authority is a key part of the decision-making process in Human Design.

Human Design can be useful in various aspects of your life. Here are some ways in which it could be helpful:

  • Self-awareness: Human Design offers a detailed description of your nature and how you function in the world. It can help you understand your strengths, weaknesses, tendencies, and behavioral patterns.
  • Decision-making: By identifying your authority based on your design, you can make decisions more in line with your true nature and purpose. Learning to listen to and follow your authority can lead to more accurate and satisfying decisions.
  • Improved relationships: Understanding your design and that of the people around you can enhance interpersonal relationships. Recognizing differences in how each personality type approaches life can help avoid conflicts and foster more effective communication.
  • Personal development: Human Design can be a powerful tool for personal growth. It helps you identify areas where you can grow and develop, as well as how to leverage your natural gifts and talents.
  • Career and vocation: Knowing your design can inform career and vocational decisions. It can help you identify areas where you can excel and roles or environments where you might feel more fulfilled.
  • Stress management: Understanding how you react to stress and pressure can help you develop strategies to cope more effectively and avoid burnout.
  • Health and well-being: Some interpretations of Human Design also include advice on diet, exercise, and health tailored to your personality type and design, contributing to overall well-being.
  • Spiritual development: For those seeking spiritual growth, Human Design can provide a framework for exploring deeper aspects of existence and spirituality.

Both Human Design and the enneagram are tools from which valuable insights can be gained to better understand oneself and, from this knowledge, delve into one’s inner depths to emerge stronger than ever with clearer life objectives.

Additionally, knowing your strengths and weaknesses will enable you to contribute the best of yourself to the world, making the world a better place for future generations.

As always, here are some recommendations if you’re interested in learning more about this topic!
